2024 International Tailoring Competition

 

A. International Master Cutting Contest

1. Men’s wear

Date & Time: September 17(W) 09:00-18:00 (8h)

Maximum of two people per country

Application deadline : May 31, 2025

Competition Rules

  1. Refer the picture below

    The model is a person about 4-5 peopl

  2. The style of the jacket will be 2 buttoned single breasted with peak lapel, 1 chest pocket, 2 slanted pocket, 1 changed pocket and side vents

  3. The competitor takes measurements before the start.

  4. Competition time is 8 hours.(1 day working)

  5. On the day of the competition, a hand-stitch fitting jacket will be displayed, and competitors must stitch their jacket according to the fitting sample.

  6. Each person will be given the same quality and quantity of fabric. 

  7. The interlining and accessories, which include shoulder pads, fake button cloth, finished pockets, horsehair interlining, bastingthread, and 1cm wide fusible tape, will all be given the same quality and quantity.

  8. No additional fabric or interlining may be added to the jacket. 

  9. The Working Station consist of Working table, Stools, Lamp, Plain cloth for laying over the table, Tailor’schalk, Plain papers for pattern making, Pencil, pen, eraser, Scotchtape, Iron 

  10. The competitor Is required to bring their ownequipment, which includes -Scissors, Pressing bugs(pillow), Ruler and square ruler -Needles,pins,pincushion -Tapemeasurement

  11. Before making the jacket, each team should create a paper pattern

  12. After creating the pattern. Do not cut. Ask the judge for a scoring evaluation. 

  13. Before cutting, all pattern pieces(front, back, sleeves, collar, and facing) should be laid out and firmly pinned on the fabric. Ask the judge for ascoring evaluation. 

  14. Once the competitor has completed the jacket, the competitor must put the number in their jacket. 

  15. The final scoring evaluation and judging will take place on the main stage on the nextday.

The Marking Scheme

  1. Comparison of hand-stitched fitting jacket and fitting sample

  2. Collar and lapel 

  3. Sleeve and armhole

  4. Shoulder and shoulder seams

  5. Back Shoulder

  6. Pocket positioning

  7. Button positioning

  8. Vent

  9. Proportion and good harmony of sleeves length and jacket length

  10. Pressing

  11. Total appearance (silhouette)

 

 

2. Women's cloth

B. International Junior Master Cutting Contest

Eligibility to participate : under 40 year

Maximum of two people per country

Application deadline : May 31, 2025

 

Competition Rules

1. Men’s cloth : same as International Master Cutting Contest.

2. Women's cloth : same as International Master Cutting Contest.

C. International Buttonholes Contest

  • Date & Time : September 18(TH) 09:00-11:00 (2h)
  • Maximum of two people per country
  • Application deadline : May 31, 2025 

- Competition Rules 
1. Maximum of two people per country
2. Front lapel, thread and buttonhole core thread will be given to each competitor
3. Each competitor must bring their own sewing equipment.
4. Each competitor is require to sews two front button holes (1 inch) and a lapel button hole (⅞ inches) with finger

1. Evaluate the front appearance, back appearance, button hole 3D sense of each button.

2. Evaluate the overall appearance of each button.
